One of the best awards presentation evenings that the Nursery
& Garden Industry of Western Australia (NGIWA) ever saw
was held at Perth's Parmelia Hilton this year.
It was a pleasure to see so many of the "little guys"
not only in the running, but in fact actually taking home most
of the awards. Unfortunately some of the award recipients could
not be present in person and disappointingly, some of the "big
boys", I won't mention any names, were not even represented,
but that did not dampen spirits in the slightest. This year's
attendance was bigger on the whole and the increased number
of entrants from rural areas was a definite plus. The Awards
of Excellence were all well deserved, the applause came from
the heart, the food was great, the band was a hit (unlike some
of the ones we had in previous years) and had even confirmed
non-dancers tap their feet all night!
