Description
This robust species is normally about 45 cm high but can grow
to 1m. Its leathery, lanceolate 2540 cm long leaves have
a herringbone pattern of broad silvery-grey bars on a green
background, with dull reddish-purple undersides. Most commonly
grown is the cultivar Tricolor with irregular
blotches of creamy yellow; the red undersides give it a reddish
glow from above. Native to Brazil.
