Description

Magnificent bedding plant up to 60cm high. Poppies make excellent cut flowers for indoor decoration.

Colours include lemon, yellow, gold, orange, pink, salmon, various reds and white. If the spent blooms are picked regularly, the plants will flower for many months.

Growing

Poppies need plenty of sunshine and a well drained, fertile and friable soil. It is a good idea to prepare the bed well beforehand with plenty of compost, animal manure and fertiliser.

If possible, provide Poppies with an aspect that gives them morning sun, as that will give more prolific results. Sheltered from wind is preferable.

Propagation from seed from late summer into autumn. Early sowings will produce winter flowers.

Feed with liquid fertiliser when buds appear and then every 2 weeks.
