Only Flowers and Vegetables that can be planted in any
climate are listed here.
For climate-specific gardening guidance choose a month from the menu.

June
- Indoor plants - Keep away from heaters, water less
frequent.
- Lawns - Mow less frequent.
- Move plants - Now is the time to safely move spring
and summer growing plants.
- Plant - roses.
- Plant annuals - Candytuft, Canterbury bells, Delphinium,
Dianthus, English daisy, Godetia, Gypsophila, Larkspur, Linaria,
Lupin, Statice. (N/A for cold climates)
- Plant vegetables - Asparagus, Cress, Lettuces, Mustard,
Peas, Spinach.
- Pruning - Deciduous trees, grapes, passion fruit,
kiwi fruit, roses.
- Winter colour - Plant Camellias, Azaleas, Cyclamen,
Daphne, bird attracting Grevilleas and Coreopsis.

July
- Gardenbeds - prepare for spring planting. (Defer
until August in colder areas).
- Garden design - Implement your ideas now while plants
are dormant and can be moved.
- Lawns - Fertilise, mow less.
- Move plants - Shrubs and trees can be moved until
August.
- Pests - Check Azaleas for possible petal blight.
- Plant annuals - Cleome, Dianthus, Gloxinia, Malope,
Statice. (N/A for cold climates)
- Plant vegetables - Cress, Lettuces, Mustard, Peas.
- Prune - trees and roses.
- Shrubs & Trees - plant bare-rooted deciduous
plants and fruit trees.

August
- Fertilise - Roses, azaleas, camellias.
- Garden design - implement your ideas now while plants
are dormant and can be moved.
- Indoor plants - begin to water a little more.
- Lawns - check & treat for bindii if necessary.
- Plant annuals -Balsam, Begonia, Carnation, Marigold,
Snapdragon.
- Plant vegetables - Cabbages, Carrots, Chinese Cabbage,
Herbs, Lettuces, Mustard, Spring Onions, Parsnip, Potatoes,
Rhubarb, Salsify, Silver beet.
- Pruning - Finish pruning roses and blossom trees.
- Shrubs & Trees - plant bare-rooted deciduous
plants and fruit trees.
